What’s
up everyone! As the month of June scrapes by,
the month of July jump starts by bringing the
heat. It still can’t hold back the die hard
enthusiasts, that are showing off they’re
pride and joy for the love of the sport. The level
of quality grows everyday due to the fierce competition
that drives the excitement of the automotive industry.
For everyone who has put their hearts and wallets
into their custom masterpieces, I commend you!
So far you’ve made the 2003 Gauge Magazine
Show Tour once again, an impressive journey.
On
the weekend of July 12-13, 2003 our staff will
be splitting up and heading to the Bristol Motor
Speedway in Tennessee and to the John Deere Commons
in Moline IL. The 1st event in Bristol TN is the
NOPI Southeastern Mini Truckin’ & Compact
Nationals. The event will take place on the weekend
of July 12-13. Even though it will not be the
same as making that drive to Pigeon Forge, cruising
the strip and racking up a nice stack of tickets.
The new location will most definitely bring more
space and a new trend to return to.
The 2nd event this weekend is the Custom City
Car show in Moline, IL. DJ Kidd Kutt will be live
all weekend mixing the beats and giving this show
a serious touch of Gauge Magazine lifestyle. Make
sure to pre-register now at www.customcitycarshow.com
It’s
going to be a busy weekend on the 26-27 of this
month, 3 shows in 3 different states. We start
off with Freelance Photographer Eric Stiles cruising
into Kalamazoo, MI for The Great Lake Car &
Truck Nationals hosted by Rollin Junk. The show
is presented by Just Win Motorsports and will
be held at the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds. For
more information on this event, visit www.Rollinjunk.com
.
The second stop of the weekend takes us on a trip
with Freelance Photographer Matt Willoughby. Matt
will be in Hamilton, OH for The North American
Nationals. This isn’t Ed Eldridge and staffs
first rodeo, be ready to be stunned at the fine
collection of vehicles on hand in the show field.
For more information or directions to this event
please visit

On
the third and final stop of the weekend we land
over in Louisville, KY for the Southern Showdown.
The 4th Annual event presented by Cool Cars at
the Bullock County Fairgrounds will be holding
an impressive hydraulic contest, come see some
of the highest flying hoppers in the mid west.
Be sure to check out the ever popular Bikini contest,
where the 1st place winner will earn a possible
Gauge Girl shoot for one of our upcoming issues.
Stop by the Gauge booth to scoop up some of our
latest Gauge goodies. For more information on
this event visit www.coolcars.org
We
have another fine issue put together, for you
this month. Laid out on this months cover is Dave
Duffy representing The Freaks of the Industry,
with his smooth ass 2002 IS300 Lexus. This is
the only way to roll a Lexus! To add to the aggressive
stance of Dave’s ride, we introduce you
to our gorgeous July Gauge Girl Heidi West. Be
sure to check out her seductive layout in her
Gauge Girl section.
The show coverage from the biggest
party show in the world is here… that’s
right The Cruisefest Nationals. The event was
held at the Ross County Fairgrounds on the weekend
of May 9-11. Darrel Uzzel and staff once again
held an outstanding event at its new location
in Chillicothe, OH. The constant roar of Cruisefest
rolled through the town of Chillicothe on Mothers
Day weekend. With the roar it brought the familiar
smell of rubber burning in the air, and the sight
of Mardi Gras beads turning in to a great alternative
for a shirt.
Throughout the weekend Gauge was
holding its 4th Annual Gauge Magazine Lifestyle
Party. Kidd Kutt was tearing up the vinyl for
the nightlife at Cruisefest. There were special
guest appearances by DJ Sinister, and DJ Splice.
See the naughty Wet-T-shirt contests sponsored
by Jon-E-Mac Motorsports. Watch what happens when
you cut up some Gauge shirts and add water.
Freelance Photographer Eric Stiles
attended the Cavalcade of Wheels in South Bend,
IN. The event was held at Notre Dame on the weekend
of March 29-30 2003. Make sure to check out his
awesome coverage of this event.
Last but definitely not least,
we made the trip to Lebanon, TN for Slammin’
& Jammin’. The event was held at the
James E Ward Agricultural Center on the weekend
of May 24-26. As always, Charlie Cobble and crew
rolled in another record breaking number of participants
making this year’s event the largest ever.
Be sure to add this event to your show schedule
for next year if you missed out on the excitement.
We’ve put together an impressive
line up of features for you this month. Donnie
Maxwell with his clean ass 1993 Honda Accord scooped
up an impressive feature shot by Freelance Photographer
Michael McGill at the Spring Fling in Panama City
Beach. I hooked up with Tim Mainieri representing
Eksessiv at Showfest in Greenville, MS. We were
able to pull out this fine feature shoot with
his 1991 Caprice Wagon. Anthony Saiia modernized
his 1989 Chevy Blazer; bringing old school and
new school head to head. Be sure not to miss out
on this mean conversion.
We
are currently putting together a Gauge Team Freelance,
which is a program designed to allow you, our
