What’s up everyone! The scorching month of July rolled through bringing the heat and making some noise on the Gauge Magazine Lifestyle Tour. Throughout the year preparation for the summer season is so intense and usually makes months feel like days. We've been taking a road trip to a different state every weekend and introducing our lifestyle to the locals of many towns. As enthusiasts we create these awesome surroundings at every event through out the show season.

This past month at The Southern Showdown in Louisville, KY I was confronted by a soldier that was stationed in Iraq throughout the madness of the war. Fortunately he was able to make it back to the states to share his experiences about what he did to escape from the reality of this country being at war. He expressed his love for the sport and how Gauge Magazine got him and his fellow troops through the good and the bad times. So throughout the many ideas and creativity that we pour into our custom vehicles year after year, the response from an eager spectator that appreciates the custom world is Priceless! Be proud to share the stories of your creation with spectators, and value the appreciation received from millions monthly.

On the cover this month we bring you Carolyn Vaughn and her 1986 Nissan 720. I was able to pull Carolyn’s slammed Nissan over into the 3rd turn of the Nashville Superspeedway at the Southeastern Mini Truckin’ Nationals this past month. With its mod’s list to capacity and its aggressive paint scheme, we were able to drag away with one crowd pleasing cover feature.

We topped off Carolyn’s ride with the stunning appearance of August Gauge Girl Lauren Gilchrist. I had the pleasure of meeting Lauren after she was crowned Miss Mini Truckin’ Nationals this past July. Come witness Lauren seduce the camera in her gorgeous Gauge Girl Feature.

We start off this month’s event coverage with Photographer Scott Powers catching up with the crew from Explicit Concepts. This is their 2nd Annual Showin It All Off. The event was held at the Agricenter International in Memphis, TN on April 24-25 2004. To get more information on Explicit Concepts 3rd annual event for next year, e-mail Info@Showinitalloff.com.

The Gauge Staff and I headed west to spend the day with the guys over at Dr. Dashboard for their 1st Annual Extravaganza and Sound Competition. The event was held in Terre Haute, IN at the Vigo County Fairgrounds on June 20th 2004. The event filled the fairgrounds with an impressive display of custom vehicles. Next up I had the pleasure of heading down south to witness the wildest show on the coast…Scrapin’ the Coast! The 2nd annual event took place in Biloxi, MS at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum June 26-27. From organized 65mph drag contests down the interstates of Biloxi, to the stunning collection of immaculate rides to fill the show field. This 2nd annual event is a 2nd annual success. To make sure you don’t miss out on the action next year, check out www.scrapinthecoast.com.

The Gauge Staff and I mounted up to enjoy some southern hospitality from Charlie Cobble and his awesome crew over at Autoshows.cc for the Southeastern Mini Truckin’ Nationals. The event was on July 2-4 at the Nashville Super Speedway in Nashville, TN. For more information on the 2005 event or extended coverage from this year, check out www.autoshow.cc.

We have another stunning collection of feature vehicles for you this month. We start off with Chester Elliot representing Xtreme Gravity in his 1992 Chevy Dually. Photographer John Jackson was able to catch up with Chester at the Cruisefest Nationals this year. With a couple years of work and a little patience, this one of a kind dually definitely became no stranger to attention. Its clean stance and paint scheme is just enough to satisfy a hungry crowd!

Next up we bring you Weylin Bradford representing Down South Customs in his 1989 Chevy Full Size. I was able to track down Weylin through the crazy crowd of Showfest in Greenville, MS this past May. The vibrant PPG Yellow paint on Weylin’s ride is enough to grab you by the collar and drag you across the show field to get just one more look. Even with its chop top roof and suicide doors it still leaves you with a long list of custom details that were incorporated in this clean machine!

Last but not least, we bring you Bobby Hillgaertner representing Acrophobia in his 1997 Chevy S-10. I had the chance to catch up with Bobby at the Spring Fling show in Panama City Beach, FL this past March. It took 4 years for Bobby to release his creation to the custom world, in turn leaving numerous crowds in a speechless envy! Its deep paint finish and immaculate interior definitely sets it apart form your average dime!

As usual, if you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact me!

Until next month keep your heads up and at least one frame rail on the ground! Peace!
