What’s
happenin' everyone! As the fall season
drags in, the cutting torches
light up for a jump start on
hopeful projects for the coming year.
I always enjoy hearing about the preparation
for building a vehicle and what it
will take to meet that set debut date.
Constantly looking for that upper
edge against the competition with
just one more body modification,
or reasoning with the next enthusiast
on laying frame or rocker. Making
the trips to every hot event
throughout the summer and
hitting up all the vendors for the
latest products to hit the shelves.
Roaming the shows with a stack of
pictures in hand showing off the in-depth
construction of their creation and
digging for that final touch
to set their ride off from the rest.
This never ending process drives the
next enthusiast to take that extra
step in making a difference in this
awesome hobby.
On the cover this month we present
you with JOHNNY Cash
in his 1998 Acura Integra
representing Diversified Ridez.
For the past 2 years JOHNNY Cash has
hit some of the hottest events around
the world showing off the immaculate
detail of his one of kind ride. I
was able to catch up with JOHNNY at
ITB in Indianapolis this
past August to capture one elegant
cover feature. Throughout the one
year it took to create this jaw dropping
display, his intentions were to break
out and “spank some ass”,
needless to say he got 'r done! JOHNNY
says it must go though - the For Sale
sign has been slapped on the window
to start his next project, if interested
contact me at bigwood@gaugemagazine.com.
To top off JOHNNY'S ride we bring
you the gorgeous October Gauge
Girl Michelle Mason. Hold
on guys… even with that stunning
smile and awesome body she still finds
time to work some wrenches on her
Turbo Talon and Street Bikes.
While in school she has been pursuing
a career in modeling. Be sure not
to miss Michelle’s sexy Gauge
Girl Feature.
We roll into this month’s event
coverage with Freelance Photographer
Toby Mosholder and I got
the low down on the 5th Annual
Southern Showdown. The event
was held at the Bullit County
Fairgrounds in Louisville,
KY on the weekend of
July 24-25 2004. This awesome
event presented by Cool Cars
definitely brings non stop action
with its impressive display of their
high flying hydraulic competition
vehicles and live entertainment throughout
the weekend. For more information
on this event, visit www.coolcars.org.
Part II of one of the hottest events
in the Midwest is back - that’s
right: ITB Indy.
I’ve received hundreds of e-mails
concerning the release of the ever
popular Part II of the 11th
Annual event that goes on
every year in Indianapolis, IN. For
more information or to register your
vehicle for next year, visit www.importandtruckbash.com.

At

Staff and I are packing
up and making the 1800
mile trip to the Ever
Popular SEMA show.
This year we have the pleasure
of representing two manufactures
with two vehicles. Vehicle #1
is my 'burban - The
Big Wood Project. Look
for it outside on the front
sidewalk representing Air
Lift Company. Vehicle #2
is Vice President Matt
Petro’s Project
Air Dancer. Matt is
stepping up the notch of what
an air dancer should be all
about. Project Air Dancer will
also be on the front sidewalk,
representing Chassis
Tech. We have been busy
making changes to each vehicle
that will make people talk all
year long.

Next
the Gauge Staff and I hit the east coast
to conquer the huge show grounds, home of
the Carlisle All Truck Nationals.
More than 34,000 enthusiasts poured into
the Carlisle Fairgrounds
in Carlisle, PA on the
weekend of August 6-8 2004.
To say the least, the crew over at Carlisle
are already in preparation for their long
line of events for the 2005 season. For
more information on Carlisle events or registration
check out www.carsatcarlisle.com.
To finish up our events for this month we
bring you our 1st Annual
event coverage from Slamology.
The show was held at the Marion
County Fairgrounds on September
4-5 2004 in Indianapolis,
IN. Over 200 vehicles and 17 live
bands. Needless to say we threw the auto
enthusiasts wet dream. Thanks to all the
sponsors, vendors and participants for all
there supports in creating one impressive
showcase of our lifestyle. For more information
on next years event stay tuned to Gauge
Magazine or visit www.Slamology.com.
We
start off our impressive line up of vehicle
features with Brandon Beech
in his 1991 Chevy Full Size.
When Brandon purchased his ride in 2001
his goal was to build something original
and extravagant. With help from friends
and family, Brandon was able to take his
“Smokn-U”
to the next level in 2 years time and rolled
out one clean machine. I was able to meet
up with Brandon this past March at the Spring
Fling Car show in Panama City Beach,
FL.
Next
up is Jim Bayne in his
1995 Chevy Dually representing
Xposed Visionz. Considering Jim
is a Custom Truck Builder for Killer
Ridez, it was necessary to deck out
his impressive Dually as the shop truck.
Traveling around the world and showing off
the shops skills couldn’t get any
sweeter in this smooth rolling cruiser!
I had the pleasure of hooking up with Jim
at Showfest in Greenville,
MS this past May and walked away with one
ground pounding vehicle feature!
Last
but not least we have Steve Simmons
in his 1999 Ford Ranger
representing Visual Insanity. Throughout
the 6 Years Steve has been an enthusiast
and a long list of custom vehicles later,
Steve’s love for the sport keeps him
producing eye catching show stoppers. I
was able to meet Steve at Scrapin’
the Coast this past June in Biloxi,
MS and captured the impressive stance of
his ranger on the Ken Combs Pier in Biloxi.
As
usual, if you have any questions or comments
please do not hesitate to contact me!
Until
next month keep your heads up and at least
one frame rail on the ground! Peace!
