Messages from the editor

As I sit here writing this November 2005 editorial I am anxiously awaiting to board an aircraft headed to Las Vegas, NV for the annual SEMA Show. The SEMA show is the most anticipated event of the year for manufactures in the auto industry. This year will mark the 13th year straight that I have attended this event. Six of these years have been representing gaugemagazine.com. It is amazing when I think back to the years before Gauge, I was a young eager enthusiast attending the event. I would spend the days filling up bags full of free goodies from the manufactures and stand in line for hours to get an autograph from a model or celebrity. Now, my days are full of meetings and seminars concentrating on making gaugemagazine.com a better place for everyone to shop and visit.

It’s alive!!! The Club directory is back up and again after several months of being under construction. Please register your club today!!!

Please follow these directions before you contact us about your listing:

To start off this awesome November issue we have the seductive Jennifer Lee from Ohio posing on staff photographer Erod’s custom 1999 Chevy Cavalier.  Just one look at this feature and it is easy to see that this cavalier is no joke. Make sure to check out this feature, this is by far some of the best photography to ever hit the pages of Gauge Magazine. To learn more about staff photographer Erod and his other project vehicles make sure to check out his personal web site @ www.erod.com

The next vehicle to hit the pages this month, is one of the cleanest Chevy 1500 full size trucks to hit the Midwest in a long time. This immaculate truck is owned by Bill Gains from Murfreesboro, TN. All year Bill has been kicking ass and taking names. Bill has won over 10 best of shows in the 2005 season. Just one look at the engine and undercarriage and it is easy to see why he is the undisputed champion of the Midwest.

To finish off the features for this month, staff photographer Toby Mosholder catches up with Jason Offenbaker at the Indy ITB (Import and Truck Bash) with his 1968 Ice Cream truck and Golf Cart combo. This is one of the most creative vehicles that we have seen in years. A dragging body Ice Cream truck rolling on 20” wheels, How Cool is that?  The best part is if you catch them at the right event you will be able to fulfill your hunger with a cone right out of the back of the bus.  Ben and Jerry are going to shit their pants on this one. J

For show coverage this month we start out in Dayton Ohio with Staff photographers’ Toby Mosholder and Jowee for the 7th annual Ass in the Grass. Trendsetter customs has been producing this show for the past 7 years. Each year this show just gets bigger and better. Show promoter Jake Burton puts his skills to the test each year and hand builds the Best of Show Trophy. This trophy has become one of the most prestigious awards to win in the Midwest. November Feature vehicle owner Bill Gains took home this beauty in 2005. Who will win one of these pieces of automotive art 2006?  For info on next years event visit www.assinthegrasscarshow.com

The next show to hit the pages this month is the North East Superbowl of Sound presented by North East Auto Sport, Budweiser and Pace Performance. Erod had the pleasure of capturing this one day event on film. Make sure to check out all of the great coverage. For info on next years event check out www.neasort.com

We end this month’s show coverage with the 1st annual Scion Trickin for Treats Car show hosted by Indianapolis radio station X103 and archive.gaugemagazine.com. This first annual event pulled nearly 100 cars to compete for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. For info on next years event make sure to stay tuned to gaugemagazine.com or check out www.x103.com

A few other things not to miss this month is the special features. The Don Pace pin up, custom license plates, MBRP Stainless Exhaust Install and a Chevy Cobalt review. These articles and photos should keep you busy all month long.

Well that wraps it up for the November issue - I have a plane to catch and miles of the SEMA show to see. Make sure to come back on December 1, 2005 for our ever popular SEMA Show issue. The issue will cover every aspect of the SEMA Show Experience;  Show Coverage, Hotties, and After Hour VIP parties.   DB
