Kickin
it Into High Gear

Attention
all auto enthusiasts! Unless my
calendar deceives me, it’s
that time again. That’s
right, it’s March and with
shows already popping up down south
and even here in the Midwest, it’s
time to get in gear and get your
rides ready to go.
Now,
if you’re like me, you like
to wait till the last minute to get
your ride back on the road. My
s10 is nothing more than a cab on
a frame at the moment as it goes
through its pre-show season overhaul
and believe me, I know I’ll
be cutting it close. But for
those of you who need some much needed
motivation, here are a couple of
resources to get you going again.
If
any of your friends are car guys
and they’re letting you slack,
then need a well deserved smack to
the back of the head. More
than likely they have things to get
done as well and lending a helping
hand always makes the work go much
faster. Not to mention a little
envy among friends can go a long
way as well. If it wasn’t
for my friends, my truck wouldn’t
be nearly as far as it is.
The
internet forum. Nothing gets
me more motivated than going online
seeing the progress on the rides
of others whether it is in your own
neighborhood or throughout the country. If
anything, make a contest out of it
to see who can get their ride out
of their garage first. Now,
I’m not saying to rush your
work and cut corners but a friendly
competition never hurts.
Set
a deadline. Having goals for
certain dates is a great way to keep
you and your ride moving along. For
my own goal, I plan to have my truck
back on the road by Lay’d Out
at the Park, April 8-9. With
this date approaching fast, I know
that I’ve got a lot to do but
it’s been a great motivational
tool for me and my friends.
Of
course, everyone has excuses for
not working on and getting their
rides finished on time. Money,
girlfriends, families, the list of
excuses can go on and on. Making
time for your ride is no different
than making time for school, work,
or your family. It may be difficult,
but even an hour is better than nothing. In
the end, it all boils down to this:
What’s more important, your
house payment or your ride? Well,
maybe the house payment would win
this time but you get the idea.
Well,
I’m off to work on my ride,
are you? Until next month,
keep your heads high and your ride
low.
Justin
Ps. If your
significant other gives you hell
over your ride, just remember the
important things in life….your
ride of course!!
