Happy
New Year!
from the entire Gauge Staff!
The
New Year always marks the
start of new beginnings and
closes the book on the previous
year’s events. When I stop
to look back over 2006 it
brings a huge smile to my
face. We traveled
over 20,000 miles doing nothing
but going to the top automotive
events in the US.
Along this journey we have
met some of the most interesting
people in the world - Fellow
Auto Enthusiasts! No matter
where we went there was always
a friendly face to hang out
with after a long day at the
show. The month of
January also always marks
an anniversary here at gauge.
This marks year # 8 for us
and every year just gets that
much crazier. In
2007 look for us at all the
top notch automotive events
in the USA. Take a minute
and come by our booth and
say hi.
On the cover this
month, we catch up
with staff photographer Michael
McGill for the photo
shoot of Shawn South’s
2005 Dodge Magnum.
Throughout the year we have
seen several of these cars
just modified to the max,
but few of these cars stand
out like Shawn’s. Awesome
color combination, smooth
lines, air ride and huge wheels
all come together for the
perfect combination on this
Magnum. Make sure not to miss
this amazing cover vehicle
layout.

To enhance the beauty of Shawn’s
car we hooked up with Brooke
Wilson. Brooke is
an inspiring model from Indianapolis
and works for Indy’s
Top Ten Models. With
just one look it is easy to
see she is going to have a
wonderful career as a model.
Make sure to check out additional
photos of Brooke at indystoptenmodels.com

On occasion you will
always hear stories about
the guy that found a totally
awesome old school ride with
no rust, clean body and low
mileage. This month
staff photographer Toby
Mosholder hooked
up with Dave Osborn
from Kalamazoo, Michigan to
shoot his needle in
a haystack find.
Since Dave picked it up in
Arkansas he has modified this
old schoo lFord F100 to the
extreme. Don’t miss the opportunity
to see this one. gaugemagazine.com/2007/January/FordF100.htm
When
you are in a car club like
Acrophobia
you have got to do crazy
modifications to
really stand out from your
peers. This peer pressure
did not hurt Josh
and Tina Smith at
all during the building of
their 1996 Ford Ranger.
This single color, door dragging
beauty is by all means a show
stopper.

Crazy
graphics are a touch that will
never go out of style.
When building a vehicle to really
grab everyone’s attention, just
go to the paint shelf and start
picking the brightest colors
you can find. This is exactly
what Greg King
from Conover, North Carolina
did with his 1994 Toyota
Tacoma. After many,
many hours of taping and spraying
Greg’s truck became an attention
grabbing, trophy winning, and
rolling rainbow.

For show coverage this month,
we start off in the sunshine
state of Florida with staff
Photographer Jason Swinford
at Slamfest XV.
XV is the Roman numeral 15.
That means for the past 15 years
the club members in Mini
Madness have
produced one of the biggest
and baddest car and truck shows
in Florida. My hats off to
you! Keep up the good work
and we will defiantly be back
next year. www.minimadness.com
If you are from the Midwest,
odds are you have heard the
name Fast Eddie.
Fast Eddie is the guy
responsible for putting on the
Midwest Truck & Lowrider Euro
Jam and the Ed “Big Daddy” Roth
Memorial Car, Truck and Bike
Show, plus Pin Stripers’ Reunion.
These two shows in two days
have become a tradition for
many of us. This year Staff
Photographer Toby Mosholder
had the pleasure of hanging
with Eddie and his crew in Huntington,
Indiana for this weekend of
all out fun. Just one look at
the show coverage and it is
easy to understand the passion
these enthusiasts have for this
show.

For the next show, we catch
up with Merrick Reynolds
at the 6th
annual Joe Show in
Cambridge, Indiana. The Joe
show is a memorial show
for Adam A. Gettinger who passed
away at only 23 years old.
Since his passing his friends
and family have worked together
to produce the Joe Show. This
show is growing every year.
Make sure to mark your calendars
for this one in 2007. www.myspace.com/joeshowccin
When they say everything
is BIG in Texas it does not
exclude car shows.
On Saturday May 13, 2006 Mean
Streets Car Show presented Spring
Bling. In one day they
produced a car show that offered
a wet t-shirt contest,
stunt motorcycle riders, Helicopter
rides, tons of cash prizes,
and much more. Mean
Streets does many shows
throughout Texas. Make sure
to check out their 2007 schedule
at www.meanstreetscarshows.com
In the mini truckin’ scene it
is about throwing sparks, fabricating
the best set up and enjoying
time with your friends at the
shows. This atmosphere is exactly
what Mr. Scrape Customs
produced on the weekend of August
26-27, 2006 with their Scrapin
the Smokies show in
Hendersonville, NC. For all
the info on the 2nd
annual show in 2007 visit www.scrapinthesmokies.com
A for sure not to miss this
month is our Show Lifestyle
special feature. This
is a collaboration of photos
we have collected over the year
2006 show scene. This section
is not about the cars it is
about the people that make this
scene what it is.
