We all love seeing the models that grace the covers of Gauge magazine every month. One of my goals of the year for the magazine is to add even more to the magazine besides the cover and Gauge Girl section. At every show or shoot I hear “man wish I had your job” or “need someone to hold the lights” it goes on and on. But you really don’t understand the work and frustration that goes into finding models. The June cover was supposed to be a father and son cover featuring two vehicles. I have been trying to shoot them for about 6 weeks. The original model that the son had found agreed to shoot, but when we tried to arrange a shoot the model never responded to emails or phone calls. Then we found a local model that was available via email and phone. Tried calling her the day before the shoot with no answer. So on to the third model, talked to her several times during the week. The day before the shoot she emailed and said that she had burned herself during a shoot and didn’t think we could shoot the next day. So I called and left a message that we could shoot around it to let me know. I received a voice mail that she would let me know later in the day. Never heard back from her and she didn’t answer any calls or emails that day or afternoon. Not one of the three models has contacted me saying sorry or I’m ready to shoot. Yet a few weeks ago I arrange a shoot with a model that lives 3 hours away from the shoot and has great credentials. She showed up early and the shoot went great. So when you see these great models on the cover and in the magazines. There is a lot of drama, stress and gray hair to get them there. Enough about all that.
The beautiful Danielle and Ashley featured on this month's cover were in the bikini contest at Slammin and Jammin in Lebanon, TN. So we found a bad ass 57 Chevy truck owned by Joe Cowart to pair them up on. So to save our Fathers Day issue, we shot the two of them for the cover. One girl for Dad and one girl for the son. Our June, Fathers Day issue also feature a father and son combo of nice vehicles with the Goodwin’s 59 Impala and 78 Camaro Z28. A pair of crazy golf carts that were restored for a father in-law that never got to see them. Show coverage this month includes Spring Fling in Florida, SCMTC show in California, Lay'd out at the Park in Tennessee, Simply Show and Shine in Nevada and California Cruisers Cruise in California. Don’t forget to check out the Fathers Day edition of Nut – N – Bolts that features a few of our readers , staff and their kids.
So what are you going to do with your father this year for Father's Day? How about you take him to a car show where you can have a great time. That is exactly what us at Gauge were thinking when slamology was scheduled for 2009.. How can you go wrong? Car and Truck show, the largest DB Drag Race in the world, Huge bikini contest, Vendor section, Freestyle motorcycle show, Hydraulic Show, Club games and the world's largest slip n slide. We guarantee you cannot go wrong with Slamology in your plans for a great weekend of celebration. www.slamology.com
